SC-1627 Class Submarine Chaser:

  • Built under Off Shore Procurement under the terms of the Military Defense Assistance Pact
  • Built to a Netherlands design, similar to American SCs in characteristics but different in appearance
  • Laid down 24 February 1954 as SC-1629 by Rijkswerf Willemsoord, The Netherlands
  • Launched 21 July 1954
  • Completed 1 December 1954, transferred to The Netherlands and named Freyr (P 804)
  • Struck in 1986
  • Fate unknown.

  • Displacement 169 t.
  • Length 119'
  • Beam 20'
  • Draft 6.2'
  • Speed 15.5 kts.
  • Complement 27
  • Armament: One 40mm mount, three 20mm mounts, one mousetrap, two depth charge tracks and two K-guns
  • Propulsion diesel, two shafts.
