Bab (SP 116)

Sea Sled: Bab, a 38-foot section patrol boat of the high-speed "sea sled" design, was built in 1916 at South Boston, Massachusetts, as a private pleasure craft. In 1916 or the first months of 1917 the Navy examined her for possible use, but evaluated her as "Not suitable for naval use". This opinion appears to have changed, as in 6 October 1917 she was reported to have been delivered to the Ninth Naval District. Bab was probably based in the vicinity of Chicago, Illinois, for the rest of World War I. On 31 December 1918 she was reported to have been returned to her owner. Fate unknown.

Specifications: Displacement unknown; Length 38'; Beam unknown; Draft unknown; Speed unknown; Complement unknown; Armament unknown.
