SP-701
ex-Dixie III (SP 701)

Dixie III served both the State of Maine and the U. S. Navy.

Motorboat: Built in 1911 by Bowes and Mower, Philadelphia, PA; Acquired by the Navy in May 1917 and placed in commission as USS Dixie III (SP 701). The craft was renamed SP-701 in April 1918 and probably spent her entire Navy career in northern New England waters. Returned to the State of Maine in May 1919. Fate unknown.

Specifications: Displacement unknown; Length 54' 1"; Beam unknown; Draft unknown; Speed unknown; Complement unknown; Armament unknown.
