Estelle (SP 747)


Motorboat;

  • Built in 1902 at Taunton, MA
  • Acquired by the Navy 18 May 1917 and commissioned USS Estelle (SP 747) the same day
  • Little information is available regarding Estelle's naval career. Apparently she saw service as a section patrol boat somewhere along the east coast of the United States for the rest of World War I
  • Renamed SP-747 in 1918
  • Transferred 23 June 1919 to the Culver Naval School, Culver, Indiana
  • Struck from the Navy list in 1933
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Length 43'
  • Beam 9' 6"
  • Draft 3' 10½"
  • Speed 9.5 kts.
  • Complement: Seven
  • Armament: Two 1-pounders
  • Propulsion: One 45hp 4-cylinder Jager gasoline engine, one shaft.
