Levisa (ID 1573)


Freighter: Built in 1916 by the Detroit Shipbuilding Co., Wyandotte, MI; Acquired by the Navy 19 November 1918 and commissioned USS Levisa (ID 1573) at Cardiff, Wales the same day; Decommissioned, 1 April 1919 and returned to her owner the same day; Sold in 1929 to Sanders and Boe of Kragero, Norway and renamed Bjerka; Sold in 1933 to Skibs A/S Orion (M. Bruusgaart & H. Bodtker, Jr., Mgrs.) of Oslo, Norway; Sold in 1946 to the E-Hsiang Steamship Co., Ltd. of Keelung, Formosa and renamed Foo Ming; Scrapped in 1958 at Formosa.

Specifications: Displacement 1,275 t.; Length 261'; Beam 43' 6"; Draft 18' 4"; Speed 9 kts.; Complement 52; Armament two 3" mounts.
