Zuiderdijk (ID 2724)


Freighter:

  • Built in 1912 as Sharistan by William Gray and Co. Ltd., West Hartlepool, England for the Strick Line
  • Acquied by the Holland America Line and renamed Zuiderdijk
  • Acquired by the Navy 21 March 1918
  • Commissioned USS Zuiderdijk (ID 2724), 23 March 1918 at San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • Decommissioned 21 July 1919 at Rotterdam, Holland, struck from the Navy list and returned to her owners
  • Sold in 1923 to T. Law and Co. and renamed Misty Law
  • Acquired in 1931 by an Italian firm and renamed Edera
  • Scrapped in Costa Rica in 1958.

  • Beam 53' 6"
  • Draft 24' 1"
  • Speed 10 kts.
  • Complement 70
  • Armament: One 4"/40 mount
  • Propulsion: Three Single ended boilers, one 2,700hp vertical triple expansion steam engine, one shaft.
