West Shore (ID 3170)


Freighter: Built in 1917 as War Archer by the Northwest Steel Co., Portland, OR; Launched 13 January 1918; Acquired by the Navy 7 August 1918 and commissioned USS West Shore (ID 3170) the same day at New York; Decommissioned 4 March 1919 at New York, struck from the Navy list and returned to the United States Shipping Board; Abandoned in 1929/1930; Scrapped in 1930 at Baltimore, MD.

Specifications: Displacement 12,000 t.; Length 423' 9"; Beam 54' 2"; Depth of hold 27' 8"; Draft 24' "; Speed 11.5 kts.; Complement 70; Armament one 5" and one 3".
