Collier:

  • Built in 1918 as War Shark by the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp., Sparrows Point, MD
  • Renamed Cape Lookout prior to completion
  • Acquired by the Navy 26 July 1918 and commissioned USS Cape Lookout (ID 3214) the same day
  • Decommissioned 7 April 1919 at Baltimore, MD, struck from the Navy Register and returned to the United States Shipping Board (USSB)
  • Sold in 1920 to the Polish American Navigation Corporation (Polsko-Amerykanskie Towarzystwo Zeglugi Morskiej) and renamed Kosciuszko
  • Returned to the USSB in 1922
  • Sold in 1929 to the A. H. Bull Steamship Co. of New York and renamed Jean
  • Scrapped in 1954 at Baltimore.

  • Beam 52'
  • Draft 23' 10½"
  • Speed 11 kts.
  • Complement 62
  • Armament: One 6"/50 and one 3"/50 mount
  • Propulsion: Three single ended boilers, one 2,500hp vertical triple expansion steam engine, one shaft.
