  • Acquired by the Navy in 1918 from Contractors Service Co. of Detroit, MI and placed in service as Barge No. 8 (ID 3397)
  • Renamed Coal Barge No. 623
  • Reclassified as an Open Lighter, YC-623
  • Reclassified as a Covered Lighter, YF-256 and assigned to the 1st Naval District (Boston, MA)
  • Placed out of service in 1956
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 200 t.
  • Length 125' 8"
  • Beam 32' 1½"
  • Capacity 500 t.
  • Non-self propelled.
