  • Built in 1915 by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co., Newport News, VA
  • Acquired by the Navy 28 July 1918 and commissioned USS Mariana (ID 3944) the same day at Baltimore, MD
  • Decommissioned 4 April 1919 at New York and returned to the United States Shipping Board for return to her owner
  • Torpedoed and sunk 5 March 1942 by German submarine U-126 east of Nassau, Bahamas at position 2214'N, 7123'W
  • There were no survivors from the 36-man crew.
