Revenue-Marine Cutter:

  • The first Argus was laid down in 1791 at New London, CT
  • Launched 24 August 1791
  • Sold 1804 to two New London merchants
  • Fate unknown.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 48 8/95 t.
  • Length 47' 9"
  • Beam 15' 3"
  • Draft 6' 2"
  • Complement 10
  • Armament: Ten muskets with bayonets, 20 pistols, two chisels and one broad axe
  • Propulsion: Sail.
