Juniper Class Lighthouse Tender:

  • The second Juniper was built in 1940 by John H. Mathis Company, Camden, New Jersey
  • Launched 18 May 1940
  • Commissioned USCGC Juniper 1 October 1940
  • Transferred to the Navy 1 November 1941
  • Designated WAGL-224 in 1942
  • Later reclassified as WLM-224
  • Decommissioned 15 July 1975
  • Sold in December 1975 to Honduras and renamed Los Roques.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 790 t.
  • Length 177'
  • Beam 32'
  • Draft 8' 7"
  • Speed 12.5 kts.
  • Complement 38 (1945)
  • Armament: 1945 - One 3"/50 mount, two 20mm mounts and two depth charge tracks (None after World War II)
  • Propulsion: Two 275shp Cooper-Bessemer diesel engines, two shafts.
