USLHT Clover

Clover served both the U.S. Light House Establishment and the Coast Survey


Light House Tender:

  • The first Clover was built in 1889 by William McKie, East Boston, Massachusetts
  • Commissioned USLHT Clover in September 1889
  • Loaned to the Coast Survey 20 February 1894
  • Returned to the Light House Establishment 16 October 1894
  • Decommissioned 30 January 1900 and sold
  • She was the last sail-powered tender built for the Lighthouse Service
  • Fate unknown.

  • Displacement 440 t.
  • Length 126' 4"
  • Beam 29'
  • Draft 9'
  • Propulsion: Sail power only.
