  • The third Jefferson was built by Webb and Allen, NY
  • Commissioned USRC Jefferson in 1833
  • Placed under Navy control 6 January 1836
  • Returned to the Treasury Department 18 October 1837
  • Renamed Crawford in April 1839
  • Lost 15 December 1847 at Gardiner's Point, Long Island Sound, New York.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 112 t.
  • Length 73' 4"
  • Beam 20' 6"
  • Draft 9' 7"
  • Complement 24
  • Armament: Typical was four 6 or 9-pounders
  • Propulsion: Topsail schooner.
