Wooden Freighter:

  • The first Pascagoula was built in 1918 by the Dierks Blodgett Shipbuilding Co., Pascagoula, MS
  • Acquired by the Navy 4 October 1918 and commissioned the same day
  • Decommissioned 21 December 1918
  • Returned to the United States Shipping Board in 1919
  • Scrapped in 1923.

  • Displacement 4,000 t.
  • Length 281' 6"
  • Beam 45' 2"
  • Draft 12' 6"
  • Speed 8.5 kts.
  • Complement 59
  • Propulsion: One 1,400ihp steam engine, one shaft.
