Freighter:

  • Built in 1918 by the American Shipbuilding Co., Detroit, MI
  • Launched 26 June 1918
  • Acquired by the Navy 2 August 1918 and commissioned the same day at Montreal, Canada
  • Struck a rock and grounded and sank 6 November 1918 in Anse de Bertheaume on the north shore of the entrance to Brest, France.

    Specifications:

  • Displacement 1,447 t.
  • Length 261'
  • Beam 43' 6"
  • Draft 21'
  • Speed 9 kts.
  • Complement 52
  • Armament: One 3"/50 mount
  • Propulsion: Two single ended boilers, one 1,200hp vertical triple expansion steam engine, one shaft.
