  • Decommissioned, 11 August 1922, at Philadelphia Navy Yard, Philadelphia, PA., and turned over the Coast Guard
  • Reacquired by the Navy, 26 May 1934
  • Converted to an Aircraft Tender (Small) at Philadelphia Navy Yard, Philadelphia
  • Recommissioned, 6 January 1940 as (AVP-16), LCDR. Frank Akers in command
  • Redesigned Seaplane Tender (Destroyer) (AVD-3), 2 August 1940
  • Converted to a High-speed Transport at Charleston Navy Yard, Charleston, S.C.;
  • Redesigned (APD-33), 19 May 1944
  • Reverted to (DD-196), 20 July 1945
  • Decommissioned, 3 October 1945, at San Francisco, CA.
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 24 October 1945
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping 3 June 1946
  • USS George E. Badger received the Presidential Unit Citation as a unit of TG 21.14 and eight battle stars for World War II service.
