  • Laid down, 23 December 1943, as the wood-hulled District Harbor Tug Mahackemo (YT-223) at Elizabeth City Shipyard, Elizabeth City, N.C.
  • Launched, 15 May 1944
  • Reclassified Large District Harbor Tug YTB-223, 15 May 1944
  • Placed in service, as Mahackemo (YTB-223), 30 October 1944 in the 5th Naval District
  • Allocated to the 5th Naval District at NOB Norfolk, VA.
  • Temporally reassigned to Philadelphia, 16 April 1946, before reporting to the 6th Naval District at Charleston S.C. , 28 June 1946
  • Deactivated at Green Cove Springs, 16 August 1946, for lay up in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet, Green Cove Springs FL.
  • Ordered reactivated, 21 July 1948
  • Final Disposition, while under tow, 11 September 1948, enroute to Newport, R.I. Naval Base, Mahackemo sank off Cape Hatteras, N.C., in 2,200 fathoms of water
  • Struck from the Naval Register 21 October 1948
