Hiawatha Class District Harbor Tug:
  • Laid down in 1941, as the Maritime Commission type VE-ME-A1 harbor tug Port Angeles (MC hull 432), by Birchfield Boiler Co., Inc., Tacoma, WA.
  • Launched 3 April 1942
  • Delivered to the Maritime Commission in April 1942
  • Acquired by the US Navy from the Maritime Commission, 30 April 1942 and placed in service as Hiawatha (YT-265)
  • Allocated to the 13th Naval District at Seattle for the duration of World War II
  • Redesignated large harbor tug YTB-265, 15 May 1944
  • Reassigned to the 12th Naval District in 1948 at the San Francisco Naval Shipyard
  • Redesignated medium harbor tug YTM-265 in February 1962
  • Placed out of service and struck from the Naval Register, date unknown
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 7 April 1987, by the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service (DRMS)
