  • Laid down in 1942 as the Maritime Commission type VE-ME-A1 harbor tug Port Crane, (MC hull 448) by Ira S. Bushey & Sons Inc. at Brooklyn, N.Y.
  • Launched 1942
  • Delivered to the US Army, designated Port Crane (LT-290)
  • Acquired by the US Navy, 25 November 1942
  • Renamed and designated Swatane (YT-344), 1 December 1942, Boatswain Charles Wentz in charge
  • Allocated to the 3rd Naval District at New York
  • Redesignated Harbor Tug, Large (YTB-344), 15 May 1944
  • Reallocated, 13 July 1956, to the 6th Naval District at Mayport, FL.
  • Redesignated Harbor Tug, Medium (YTM-344) in February 1962
  • Placed in reserve, out of service, in September 1962 at Charleston, S.C.
  • Struck from the Naval Register in September 1964
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
