Allaquippa Class District Harbor Tug:
  • Laid down as YT-372 in the winter of 1943-44 at Gulfport Boiler & Welding Works, Inc., Port Arthur, TX.
  • Launched, date unknown
  • Delivered, 15 May 1944
  • Redesignated and placed in service as Tatarrax (YTB-372) at Galveston, TX., 15 May 1944
  • Allocated to CINCPAC Ocean Area in July 1944
  • Tatarrax operated in the Marshall Islands - Eniwetok Atoll, Caroline Islands - Ulithi, Philippine Islands - Leyte
  • Placed out of service in reserve, 24 October 1946
  • Withdrawn from Reserve, reactivated and allocated to the 14th Naval District
  • Reclassified District Harbor Tug, Medium YTM-372 in February 1962
  • Placed out of service in November 1972
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 1 May 1973
  • Transferred to the University of Hawaii for use in experiments involving the generation of fuel hydrogen from sea water
  • Final Disposition, sold by the Defense Reutilization and Marketing Service (DRMS) for scrapping. 1 June 1976
