  • Laid up at Norfolk, VA. after completion of trials in January 1866
  • Placed in service at Norfolk Navy Yard in 1871
  • Standish was assigned to US Naval Academy as practice ship and station tug, circa 1880
  • Placed out of service and sold, 5 August 1921, to B. Wever & Sons, Baltimore, MD.

    Standish 81k Standish, possibly in the Severn River, off the US Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD. in 1899 with a steam launch alongside. Standish was a station tug at the Naval Academy from about 1880 through the First World War. The ship in the left background is the US Light House Service Tender Maple.
