Acquired Harbor Tug:
  • Built at Madisonville, Louisiana
  • Completed for Christie & Lowe, Chicago, IL, as tugboat Southwest (ON 200321), 1903
  • Used by Chicago contracting company during improvements of Southwest Pass on the Mississippi River, 1903-1905
  • Purchased by Navy for $10,000, September 1905
  • Placed in service as Wicomico, Mate Edward Stoker in charge, December 1905
  • Operated as tug and ferry at Naval Station New Orleans, 1905-1912
  • While under tow of tug Osceola from Key West to Port Royal, SC, foundered 30 miles off Matanzas Inlet, Florida, 23 August 1912
