    Namesake
Anemone 153k DANFS indicates the name is derived from the nymph of Greek mythology, but as almost all the tugs acquired in the Civil War received flower names, it's much more likely her namesake is Arethusa bulbosa, more commonly known as the dragon's mouth orchid. It is a rare orchid found in bogs and swamps across eastern North America.

Anemone 193k Brief article about the loss of Arethusa, from the Charleston Daily News, 12 January 1866. The almost immediate loss of the tug after her sale has caused her fate to be overlooked by previous historians. Dave Wright
