Sassaba Class District Harbor Tug, Large:
  • Laid down, 20 April 1945, at Luders Marine Construction Co., Stamford, CT.
  • Launched, 18 July 1945
  • Delivered to the US Navy, as Ankachak (YTB-501), 5 November 1945
  • Laid up with the Green Cove Springs Group, Atlantic Reserve Fleet
  • Activated in August 1948, assigned to the 5th Naval District, Norfolk, VA.
  • Reclassified District Harbor Tug, Medium YTM-767 in March 1966
  • Placed out of service, 1 July 1966
  • Transferred to the Greek Navy under lease arrangements, renamed HS Aias (A412)
  • Struck from the US Naval Register in December 1977 and sold to Greece
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown

    CVA-59 Forrestal 201k Ankachak (YTM-767), is partially visible in the foreground, with USS Forrestal (CVA-59), at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA. early 1968 (probably February–April).
