  • Laid down, 20 April 1945, at Luders Marine Construction Co., Stamford, CT.
  • Launched, 9 September 1945
  • Delivered and placed in service, as Apohola (YTB-502), 3 January 1946 in the 11th Naval District
  • Reassigned to the 5th Naval District in 1947
  • Reclassified District Harbor Tug, Medium YTM-768 in March 1966
  • Placed out of service in February 1976
  • Transferred to the Maritime Administration (MARAD) for lay up in the James River National Defense Reserve Fleet, Fort Eustis, VA.
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 15 May 1986
  • Final Disposition, disposed of by the General Services Administration (GSA), fate unknown

    Kentucky 56k Apohola (YTB-502), on the far side of the barge, and Alamingo (YTB-227), closest to camera, move a large floating crane with the bow of the unfinished battleship Kentucky (BB-66) from Newport New, VA. to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA, circa May-June 1956. The bow from Kentucky was used to repair USS Wisconsin (BB-64) which was damaged in a collision, 6 May 1956.
