YTL-422 Class District Harbor Tug, Small:
  • Laid down in 1945, by Steel Ship Ltd., at Mechanics Bay, Auckland, New Zealand for the US Navy
  • Order canceled in September 1945 because of the end of World War II
  • YTL-627 never saw service with the US Navy
  • Transferred to the New Zealand navy while only 40% complete in April 1947
  • Launched incomplete in July 1947
  • Completed in August 1948 entering service as the tug Arataki at Devonport, New Zealand
  • Sold to private owners in 1985
  • Resold in June 2005
  • Current Disposition, laying in a derelict state at Careys Bay, Port Chalmers, New Zealand,
