YO-65 Class Fuel Oil Barge (Self-propelled):
  • Built in 1945 at Smith's Shipyard, Inc., Pensacola, FL
  • Launched, 1945
  • Delivered and placed in service 1 May 1945 as YO-179
  • Allocated to the Pacific Fleet, Pacific Ocean Areas, Service Squadron Two
  • During the Korean War YO-179 was assigned to Naval Base Sasebo, Japan, circa 1950
  • YO-179 operated between Sasebo and Pusan, South Korea from July 1950 to the end of the war
  • YO-179 was towed on at least one trip to Pusan by USS Reclaimer (ARS-42) on 8 May 1951
  • Reassigned, circa 1959 - 1965, to Commander Fleet Activities, Ryukyus at White Beach, Okinawa
  • Placed out of service and transferred (leased) to Republic of Korea, renamed ROK YO-6
  • Disposed of in July 1975 through the Security Assistance Program (SAP), transferred, cash sale to the Republic of Korea
  • Retired from service in 2006
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
