  • Sailed from Chicago to New Orleans, in company of YP-31, SC-330 and SC-432, 25 November - 11 December 1940
  • Reported to Tenth Naval District at San Juan, Puerto Rico, 12 May 1941
  • YP-28 operated mostly out of St. Thomas 1941-1944
    A 27 April 1943 memo noted, however, that she was "too small and lacking in characteristics suitable for adaptation
    to Inshore Patrol activities, particularly in regard to berthing facilities."
