  • Completed for H.E. Morgan, Los Angeles, CA, as fishing vessel Chicken of the Sea (ON 229723), 1930
  • Later sold to Van Camp Sea Food Co., Terminal island, CA
  • Acquired by the US Navy and designated District Patrol Vessel YP-522, 05 August 1942
  • Converted for naval service at Campbell Machine Co., San Diego, CA, 12 August - 14 December 1942
  • Commissioned as YP-522, 05 December 1942
  • Redesignated District Degaussing Vessel YDG-3, 18 December 1942
  • Based at Noumea, New Caledonia, April 1943 - September 1944
  • Found unseaworthy due to dry rot and storm damage at San Diego, 08 March 1945
  • Arrived at Willamette, OR, to transfer deperming gear to YDG-11, 03 May 1945
  • Decommissioned and struck from the Naval Register, 02 June 1945
  • Transferred to WSA (War Shipping Administration) for disposal, 14 December 1945
  • Sold to Pacific Motor Vessels, Inc., Seattle, WA and renamed Galapagos, 1946
  • Resold to Zarco Fishing Co., San Diego, CA, and renamed Zarco, 1949
  • Sold to Arne Strom, Tacoma, WA, 1959
  • Final disposition, out of documentation, 1961
