YP-657 12k Discovery (ex-YP-657) was operated for many years by the RiverQuest (formerly Pittsburgh Voyager) Educational Organization as a school vessel. Ex-YP-657 was donated to Pittsburgh Voyager by the U.S. Navy Community Service Program and the Federal Surplus Bureau in 1996. Ex-YP-657 was loaded aboard USS Fort McHenry (LSD-43) and given an opportunity lift to New Orleans where Avondale Shipyard off loaded ex-YP-657. She was taken to a nearby shipyard for preliminary hull repairs, In May 1997, with support from the Pittsburgh's Naval Reserve Unit AD-41, and Pittsburgh Voyager crew, Discovery departed under her own power to Pittsburgh via the Tombigbee Waterway and the Ohio River.
