  • Laid down, 8 April 1897, at Herreshoff Manufacturing Co., Bristol, R.I.
  • Launched, 14 November 1897
  • Commissioned USS Talbot (Torpedo Boat No. 15), 4 April 1898, LTjg. William R. Shoemaker in command
  • Decommissioned, 20 February 1904 and attached to the Reserve Torpedo Flotilla at Norfolk
  • Recommissioned, 31 August 1906
  • Decommissioned, 1 Mary 1912, retained in service as a ferryboat for service between Washington Navy Yard and the naval facilities at Indian Head, MD.
  • Renamed Berceau, 11 April 1918 and reclassified a ferry boat
  • Designated YFB-3, 17 July 1920
  • Placed out of service 18 June 1940, and towed to Philadelphia
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 18 July 1944
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, date unknown

    Mohawk 79k The torpedo boat Talbot is the fourth vessel on the left of this Norfolk Navy Yard scene in the autumn of 1907. Ships at left are (from front to rear):
    Hopkins (Destroyer # 6);
    Lawrence (Destroyer # 8);
    Hull (Destroyer # 7);
    Talbot (Torpedo Boat # 15) and Moccasin (Submarine # 5). The latter two are hauled out on the marine railway. Stewart (Destroyer # 13) is in the right foreground. Ahead of her are a torpedo boat, a barge and the tug Mohawk. Three battleships are docked beyond them, with Iowa (Battleship # 4) furthest to the right.
