  • Laid down in 1942, at Niagara Shipbuilding Co. in Buffalo, N.Y.
  • Launched in 1943
  • Placed in service as YF-417 in November 1943
  • Placed out of service in 1946
  • Acquired by the US Coast Guard in 1946
  • Struck from the Naval Register, 17 July 1947
  • Commissioned, as the Coastal Buoy Tender USCGC White Alder (WAGL-541), 19 September 1947
  • Redesignated (WLM-541), mid-1960s
  • Sunk by collision, 7 December 1968, on the Mississippi River at mile 195.3 above Head of Passes near White Castle, LA. with the loss of 17 crew members
