 Destroyer Escorts, Frigates, Littoral Warfare Vessels
Naming: Destroyer Escorts were named for naval heroes and other notable persons.
Numbering: Destroyer Escorts were numbered in a single series, designated "DE".
Variations within this series (i.e. DER) are not indicated in this list.
A number of DE's were commissioned by US Coast Guard crews, they are designated by (USCG)
NOTE: Surviving ships became Frigates (designated FF) 30 June 1975.
A number of DE's were converted to APD's.
Those ships are included below, but ONLY in their original DE configuration.
Hull numbers enclosed in parentheses were never commissioned as DE's,
clicking on them will take you to their entry in the Amphibious Index.
