  • Named in honor of Capt. John W. McKie, Assistant to the Superintendent, Army Transport Service
  • Assigned to the US Army Coast Artillery Corp Mine Planter Service
  • Placed in commission in 1921
  • Stationed at Fort Morgan, AL., and assigned to the Coast Defenses of Mobile
  • Functioned in the Harbor Boat Service as a freight and passenger craft at Mobile Bay 1921–32
  • Placed out of commission, 1932
  • Sold in 1932 to Inland Waterways Corp, name retained
  • Final Disposition, abandoned in 1940 near Mobile, Al. and presumed scrapped
