  • Delivered to the Maritime Commission in 1945
  • Leased to Great Britain, B.M.S.M, 20 June 1945
  • Returned to the Maritime Commission, 20 August 1947, for lay up in the James River National Defense Reserve Fleet, Lee Hall, VA.
  • Chartered, by the US Army Transportation Corp., 24 November 1950, Commissioned, USAT Hickory Knoll
  • Renamed USAT General William J. Sutton in November 1974
  • Retired by US Army in May 1987, returned to the Maritime Administration for lay up in the James River National Defense Reserve Fleet, Lee Hall, VA.
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping, 10 June 1988

    Major General William J. Sutton - (04/09/1908 - 09/09/1972), Chief of the Army Reserve. Major General Sutton was regimental commander, chief of staff and assistant division commander of Texas' 90th Infantry Division. He then went to Washington and was Chief of the Army Reserve from 1 September 1963 31 May 1971.
