Great Lakes Passenger Steamer:
  • Laid down, date unknown, at Detroit Ship Building Co., Wyandotte, MI.
  • Designed primarily for the 2,952 mile Great Lakes run from Buffalo to Duluth and back, with a stop at Chicago
  • Launched, date unknown
  • Delivered in 1910 to Erie & Western Transportation Co. Anchor Line
  • Sold in 1916 to Great Lakes Transit Co.
  • Laid up in 1936 after passenger operations were ceased by Great Lakes Transit Co.
  • Purchased by the War Shipping Administration, 27 July 1942, at Buffalo, N.Y. from Sand Products Co.
  • Allocated, 28 July 1942, to the US Coast Guard for use as a Barracks Ship
  • Re-allocated to to the War Department, US Army Quartermasters Corp. as a bare bottom charter, 30 January 1943
  • Rebuilt at New Orleans, LA. in 1944, as an intermediate transport (4,888 t. gross - 2,265 t. net)
  • Commissioned USAT Octorara, date unknown
  • Assigned to the US Army Transportation Service, for service in the Southwest Pacific Area after the war as an inter-island steamer
  • Decommissioned, date unknown
  • Delivered to the US Maritime Commission Reserve Fleet, Suisun Bay, Benecia, CA, 20 July 1946
  • Final Disposition, sold for scrapping to Bethlehem Pacific Coast Steel Corp, 28 February 1952 (PDX-509) for $114.063
