    George Harrison Harrell was born in Bertie County, North Carolina, 06 November 1872. He enlisted as a Private in the First Artillery, 01 November 1892. Rising to the rank of quartermaster sergeant, Harrell accepted a commission as captain in the Quartermaster Corps, August 1917. He died 06 December 1936 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
