    Henry Flad (July 30, 1824 – July 20, 1898) was a German-born civil engineer who served as an engineering officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War, was a railroad engineer before and during the civil war, and later as a civil engineer after the war. He helped found and was first president of the Engineers' Club of Saint Louis, and in 1886 was president of the American Society of Civil Engineers.(Wikipedia)
