USED Towboat Ottawa


Sternwheel Towboat:
  • Built in 1916 at Cincinnati, OH.
  • Launched in 1916
  • Acquired in 1916 by the US Army Corp of Engineers Louisville District
  • Christened, commissioned and and put into service as USED Towboat Ottawa in 1916
  • Ottawa operated on the Ohio River
  • Retired from US Army service in 1943
  • Sold in 1943 to Arrow Transportation Co.
  • Sold in March 1945, to CAPT Bisso
  • In 1949 her machinery and boilers were removed with plans to replace them with equipment from the towboat Jos. Chotin
  • Final Disposition, the plan was never completed and Ottawa was totally dismantled in 1949
