USED Towboat Crozet


Sternwheel Towboat:
  • Built in 1907 as wooden steamer R.J. Armstrong at Glen Osborne, PA.
  • Completed at Marietta, OH.
  • Launched in 1907
  • Delivered in 1907 to the Ohio River Contracting Co.
  • Acquired by the US Army Corp of Engineers Evansville District in 1915, renamed USED Towboat Crozet
  • Christened, commissioned and placed in service in 1915 by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers as USED Towboat Crozet
  • Crozet operated in Wheeling, Cincinnati and Huntington USED districts
  • Sank in January 1919 at Portland OH.
  • Raised and repaired at Pt. Pleasant, WV.
  • Retired from Army service, circa 1923-1924 (Off the list by June 30, 1924)
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
