USED Towboat Pearl


Sternwheel Towboat:
  • Built in 1897 at Keokuk, IA.
  • Launched in 1897
  • Christened, commissioned and placed in service by the US Army Engineers as USED Towboat Pearl in 1897
  • Assigned to the US Army Corps of Engineers Chicago District
  • USED Pearl worked on the Illinois River and Mississippi River
  • Rebuilt and enlarged in 1909 at Beardstown, IL. in 1909 (85.1 x 18 x 4.1.)
  • Retired from US Army service, circa 1935
  • Sold circa 1935 to Kahike Bros.
  • Final Disposition, sank at the Kahike Bros. yard in 1951
