USED Towboat Vega (II)


Sternwheel Towboat:
  • Built in 1901 at Howard Shipyard, Jeffersonville, IN.
  • Launched in 1901
  • Christened, commissioned and placed in service as USED Towboat Vega in November 1908
  • Assigned to US Army District, unknown
  • USED Towboat Vega worked on the Muskingum River
  • Retired from US Army service, circa 1918
  • Sold at public sale in March 1918 to John Klein, who took Vega to Pittsburgh were he set the pilot house down pool style
  • Towed the showboat Cotton Blossom in 1920
  • Sold in February 1921 to CAPT. Elisha Woods of the Woods Bros. Construction Co. at Pittsburgh, PA., rename Elisha Woods
  • Final Disposition, caught in a sudden wind squall at Atherton, KS. in October 1926 and overturned and sank
