Sternwheel Towboat:
  • Built in 1899 at Howard Shipyard, Jeffersonville, IN.
  • Launched in 1899
  • Christened, commissioned and placed in service in 1899 as USED Towboat William R. King
  • Assigned to the US Army Engineers St. Louis District
  • USED William R. King worked on the Mississippi River
  • Chartered in 1927 by the Philadelphia and Cleveland Coal Co. to tow coal between Cairo and St. Louis. On her first trip she burned boilers and and was returned
  • Retired from US Army service, circa 1930
  • Sold circa 1930 to Patton Tully Co. Memphis, TN., renamed Charles Norvell. used as a quarterboat into 1932
  • Final Disposition, dismantled at Memphis in 1936.
