  • Built in 1943 for the Defense Plant Corp (DPC 601) by Jeffersonville Boat and Machine Co., Jeffersonville, IN.
  • Launched in 1943
  • Leased by Inland Waterways Corp for the duration of World War II to American Barge. Line
  • Returned to Defense Plant Corp in October 1945
  • Acquired in February 1946 by US Army Engineer Memphis District
  • Christened, commissioned and place in service as USED Corregidor
  • Corregidor served on the Mississippi River
  • Final Disposition, dismantled in 1956

    Namesake
    Corregidor - Battle for the Recapture of Corregidor occurred from the 16th to the 26th of February, 1945, pitted American forces against the defending Japanese garrison on the island fortress. The Japanese had captured the bastion from the United States Army Forces in the Far East during their 1942 invasion. (Wikipedia)
