USED Towboat Walker Morris

  • Built in 1876 at Howard's Shipyard, Jeffersionville, IN., machinery from the first boat of the name
  • Launched, 19 February 1876
  • Christened, commissioned and placed in service in 1876 as USED Towboat Walker Morris
  • Assigned to the US Army Engineers District, unknown
  • Built for the Louisville and Portland Canal
  • Retired from US Army service in 1888
  • Sold in 1888 to Dassing Bros., renamed Fred Nellis
  • Fred Nellis burned three miles below Paducah, KY., 25 March 1897, but was rebuilt and continued operating to 1905-1907.
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
