  • Laid down in 1900 as the Colonel Alexander MacKenzie, for the US Army Corps of Engineers at Howard Shipyard & Dock Co., Jeffersonville, IN.
  • Rebuilt from ex-USED Snagboat General Barnard
  • Launched in 1900
  • Delivered to the the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1900
  • Assigned to US Corps of Engineers Rock Island District
  • Her skipper, Captain David Tipton, died at the wheel of USED Snagboat Colonel A. MacKenzie on Lake Pepin, near Reads Landing, Minnesota, 22 September 1904
  • The boat was renamed USED Snagboat David Tipton in 1904 in his honor
  • David Tipton operated on the upper Mississippi River until 1920
  • David Tipton was sold in 1920 at public sale conducted at Rock Island, IL. to Meyer Katz, St. Louis, MO. and John F. Klein, Pittsburgh, PA.
  • Resold in late 1923 to two Memphis, TN. railroad men, named Peel and Bachelor.
  • She was renamed Ursie Boyce and converted to a Packet for the Memphis-White River trade
  • Placed into service as an Excursion Packet, renamed City of Cairo, circa 1923
  • Final Disposition, laid up in Alton Slough the winter of 1924? and sank. F.X. Ralphe, Hastings, Minnesota took her to Mound City for repairs where she again sank and was lost
