USED Snagboat Hyacinth


Sternwheel Snagboat:
  • Built in 1904 as the steam packet Hyacinth at Patterson, LA.
  • Launched in 1904
  • Completed in 1904
  • Delivered in 1904 to private owners
  • Acquired by US Army Corps of Engineers in 1905
  • Converted to a snagboat, christened, commissioned and placed in service as USED Hyacinth
  • Assigned to US Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District
  • Hyacinth worked on the Mississippi River
  • Rebuilt in 1923 with a new hull (119’ x 23’ x 5.3’)
  • Retired from Army service, circa 30 June 1939
  • Final Disposition, fate unknown
