USED Snagboat Josephine


Snagboat:
  • Built in 1873 at Freedom, PA., completed at Pittsburgh, PA.
  • Launched in 1873
  • Operated as a Packet on the Missouri River
  • Purchased by the US Engineers, 13 April 1885, at Sioux City, IA.
  • Transferred to Missouri River
  • Commission USED Snagboat Josephine at Bismarck, ND in 1889
  • In 1900, based at Sioux Ice Harbor, SD.
  • Placed out of service and sold prior to June 30, 1906
  • Final Disposition, while operating as a packet she was cut down by ice at Running Water, SD, 8 March 1907 and sank. Her machinery was salvaged and shipped to Alaska for use on a Yukon River steamer.
