A Special series of photos by Oscar Wilbert Thorin, a former crew member, showing USS Panamint (AGC-13) accepting the surrender of northern Japan at Ominato Anchorage. northern Honshu Island. The surrender was carried out aboard Panamint on 9 September 1945, by Commodore R. E. Robinson, Jr., representing Vice Admiral Fletcher, Commander North Pacific Force and Area, and Rear Admiral Den-suke Kanome for the government of Japan.
